Treating Bunions

If all the conventional treatments have failed maybe it is time to try these

Are there any natural ways of treating bunions that actually work, or are medications and surgery the only answer? The answer to this question is not only yes, there are actually several natural ways to treat this very painful and troubling condition.

If you have tried all of the standard methods and nothing has worked so far, maybe it is time you tested some of these natural treatments yourself.

What are they?

In fully understanding the natural methods of treating bunions, it is very helpful to understand exactly what they are, the symptoms, causes, risk factors, as well as what natural methods of treatments work and why they work.

A bunion is best described as an abnormal bony bump that begins to form on the joint of your big toe. There may be a few exceptions, but in the vast majority of cases they will form at the base of this joint as the result of your big toe pushing up against the rest of your toes, and when this occurs, it forces this joint in the opposite direction.

By doing so, over a period of time, this unusual direction will eventually enlarge your big toe, which presents two challenges; it crowds your other toes and it begins to cause a lot of pain.

There are several potential causes, but it is believed the most common cause is wearing shoes that are too tight. The real key to treating them is to effectively catch them as early as possible, and the best way to do this is to understand the signs to watch for.

Signs and Symptoms:

The earlier that you can properly identify this condition, the earlier you can plan your attack in treating bunions naturally so they will never reach the stage where the only option is to have it surgically repaired, which should be your last option.

The first of the symptoms or signs to watch for is a bulging bump that begins to form on the outside of the base of your big toe. This can be very easy to ignore, but the next set of signs will not be as you will now begin to experience swelling, redness, as well as soreness that is centering on your big toe as well as a thickening of skin at the base of it.

If you can identify these symptoms and begin the process of treating bunions in this stage, you can defeat them before they can cause a lot of pain.

However, if you do not, the next symptoms will begin to develop and the first of this next set is corns or calluses. Both of these conditions will occur as the result of your first and second toes overlapping, which will then lead to two types of pain; intermittent or persistent.

Once this occurs, the movement of your big toe is now restricted, which can very easily lead to what is referred to as hammertoe.

This is the result of the pain from this bunion becoming so severe that you cannot walk properly or comfortably in normal shoes, as the skin as well as the deep tissues around this abnormal growth has now become both swollen as well as inflamed. It is also now beginning to push your big toe in an upward position, which squeezes your other toes together.

It will only be a matter of time before this crowding will mold your toes in a claw like shape that is referred to as hammertoe.

Causes:

In further understanding the natural ways of treating bunions, it is also very helpful to understand all of the causes.

Although poor fitting shoes are considered to be the most common cause, it is by no means the only one.

Since this condition is the result of both bearing as well as shifting pressure on your feet in an uneven manner, which makes your big toe unstable, there are several potential underlying causes.

The first of these is high-heeled shoes of any type as well as shoes that simply do not fit properly. However, it may also be the result of some type of an inherited foot formation, some type of an injury to your foot, as well as various types of arthritis.

Some of these forms include inflammatory as well as degenerative arthritis that can very easily cause some of your cartilages to deteriorate, which is where the real player in the natural methods of treating bunions begins to emerge.

Natural Methods of Treating Bunions:

Although there are several conventional methods of treating bunions that include individually fitted shoes, padding and taping your toes, as well as medications and foot inserts, there are several natural treatments that can also be extremely effective as well.

If you currently have this condition, the first natural method of treating bunions is to relieve the pain by stretching your big toes. To do this, simply sit down so that your legs are both stretched out and both of your heels are lined up so you can see them.

Then take a wide and thick, at least one-half inch thick rubber band, and loop it around both of your big toes.

Then simply stretch all of your toes out and hold this position for at least 10 seconds and try to do at least 30 repetitions. However, for this to be 100% effective you must keep your ankles together in a V-shaped formation, as this forces your big toe back to its natural position.

The next method of treating bunions is to soak your feet for at least 20 minutes in warm water with an aspirin solution. Aspirin is believed to be a miracle drug for several conditions, and this is one of them. If you take 4 aspirin tablets and simply dissolve them in warm water, you will be shocked at how soothing it will be for your bunions.

The next method of treating bunions is also extremely effective, but not very well known. After you have soaked your feet in this aspirin solution, take good old fashioned castor oil and rub it amply over your bunion, and then wrap it with a soft and easy to remove bandage.

Within minutes the inflammation will be totally eliminated and you are now ready for the next step which is taking two nutrients that are also extremely effective at soothing and relieving pain; bromelain and vitamin A.

Bromelain is a mixture of enzymes that are found naturally in both the juice and the stems of pineapples, and it extremely effective for fighting inflammation as well as reducing swelling, making it a powerful and natural method of treating bunions.

Vitamin A is also very effective at naturally reducing inflammation, and when combined, they make a very powerful one-two punch.

However, there is one other very important player in this battle; Vitamin C.

LIQUID C VITAMINS

Vitamin C is perhaps the most important of all the natural methods of treating bunions as it is absolutely critical for producing collagen in your body, which is the key ingredient for healthy connective tissues, and if you have any type of an arthritic condition that is causing this condition, this nutrient may stop this process before it ever begins.

Summary:

There are several conventional methods for treating bunions, but if none of them have worked for you at relieving the inflammation and swelling, maybe it is time you tested these natural treatments for yourself.
