Natural Remedies for Tinnitus

Should all center on protecting what is referred to as myelin

Natural Remedies for Tinnitus Are there any natural remedies for tinnitus? Although this notion was ignored for several years in the medical community, it is finally starting to get the attention that it deserves.

There have been several misconceptions about this condition for several years as well, and this has been one of them.

The other two are that it is almost always caused by loud music or noises, and because of this, it affects younger and middle aged people. However, anyone can develop this condition and some of the facts may even surprise the people that have it.

What is it?

In fully understanding the natural remedies for tinnitus, it is very helpful to know exactly what it is. Tinnitus is some type of sound or noise that affects your ears, and while ringing is certainly one of them, it is by far and away not the only sound associated with this condition.

It can also cause your ears to buzz, whistle, hiss, as well as click. It some cases, it can also produce what is described as a roaring sound, but whatever sound you hear; it is persistent and extremely troubling.

It is estimated that this condition affects about 20 percent of the entire population at some point, and for some people, it can become chronic.

Perhaps the best way to describe it is the making of a noise when there is no external sound that is present. Although there may be no sound present, this continual noise is very real to you. It is not considered to be a serious condition, but it can and does worsen as you age if it is not treated.

Some of these treatments may actually reduce the sounds, but most of them will only mask or lesson the sounds. It is technically not a condition itself, but rather a symptom of some type of an underlying condition.

There are certain risks factors that make you much more prone to developing tinnitus, and the most obvious one is exposure to loud noise or sounds without any type of protection. This can and is dramatically increased if this unprotected exposure lasts for extended periods of time.

As you age, you are also at a much higher degree of risk, especially if you start to have any type of a hearing loss.

But what is not well known and not fully understood, is that it seems to affect Caucasian males much more frequently as well as any one that is suffering from post-traumatic stress syndrome. For this reason, it is becoming a major issue with several of our military heroes and this makes the natural remedies for tinnitus even more important.

Tinnitus can very easily come and go as well as drastically change in severity, as one minute it may be just a very low roar, and the next minute it can be like squeal that is about to tear your head apart. It can also affect both ears at the same time or in some cases, may affect only one ear and can shift back and forth.

The natural remedies for tinnitus can help with the two forms of this very troubling condition; subjective and objective. If you have the subjective form, which is considered to be the most common, only you can hear these noises. If you have the subjective form, your doctor will also be able to hear it when they examine you.

There are several potential underlying causes of tinnitus and there is one other very troubling fact with this condition; in the vast majority of cases, the exact case may never be found.

The most common cause is inner ear cell damage. Your inner ears have very small and extremely delicate hairs that will move when they sense the pressure of any type of sound wave. Once this occurs, they will send a signal to your ear cells to release an electrical signal from a nerve in your ear to your brain.

If these hairs become bent in any way or actually break, they basically start to leak. As a result, random electrical impulses are sent to your brain and you now have tinnitus.

Other potential causes other than unprotected exposure to loud noises include age related hearing loss, earwax buildup, as well as stress or depression. Abnormal inner ear fluid build ups can also cause pressure and trigger these sounds, as well as a head or neck injury or some type of a tumor.

It is also believed that high blood pressure may be the underlying cause as well as some type of medication reaction.

Natural Remedies for Tinnitus:

The first of the natural remedies for tinnitus that may help to reduce or even stop it is vitamin B12. This vitamin is critical to your nerves as your body needs it to produce what is called myelin. Myelin is best described as a fatty like substance that wraps around your nerve fibers and by doing so, it insulates them.

If they are fully insulated, it allows for the electrical impulses that are sent to your brain to operate without any interference. If you have a deficiency of this vitamin, it can raise the levels of an amino acid in your blood called homocysteine. It is believed that this amino acid can be toxic to your nerves and has been linked to several disorders.

These disorders include memory loss, a decrease in your reflexes, as well as noise-induced hearing loss, and this is why it is one of the natural remedies for tinnitus. There was a very extensive study done in Israel at the Tel Aviv University as well as the Institute for Noise Hazards Research in Ramat Gan, which was conducted by Joseph Attias, D.Sc. the head of the institute.

He took a group of 385 people that were suffering from tinnitus and injected them with 1,000 milligrams of this vitamin each week for four to six weeks. At the end of this testing period, over 50 percent of the patients reported tremendous improvement, and about 25 percent of the remaining group had reduced levels of this condition.

If you have this condition, ask your doctor to test your vitamin B12 levels. Next on the list of natural remedies for tinnitus is the mineral magnesium, which helps to helps to maintain your nerve cells energy storage as well as its production. If your body is low in magnesium, it can cause your blood vessels to constrict, including the ones in your ears.

Once this occurs, any type of unprotected and prolonged noise will start to take its toll and will eventually cause damage. This mineral is very effective in young adults exposed to loud music, people that work in very noisy environments, as well as anyone exposed to extreme stress.

LIQUID VITAMINS

The mineral zinc and vitamin A may also play a role as natural remedies for tinnitus, as your inner ear has very high concentrations of zinc. Because of this, inner ear infections as well as hearing problems have been linked to a zinc deficiency. It is estimated that about twenty five percent of the people that have tinnitus have a zinc deficiency.

Vitamin A is also found in high concentration is your receptor cells, including the ones found in your ears.

Summary:

This condition can be one of the most frustrating conditions that you could ever have, but there are natural remedies for tinnitus that can and do help.

You may never fully understand or find the actual cause of it, but what is understood is how supplements may help with these sounds that are constantly bothering you.

If you have not tried them, maybe it is time to test them yourself.
